We’re passionate about our community

Pawlett Pavilion or Pawlett Sports & Playing Field Association 1997 as we are officially called started properly in 1997 when a group of villagers took the Parish Council up on the chance to create an association dedicated to sports and social events based in a local farmers field. The field was full of stones many of which our growing group of volunteers removed by hand.

Then the fundraising started. Children and adults alike all helped raise funds in their own ways using whatever superpower they had to build somewhere we could be proud of. We held car boot sales and fetes on the field taking us towards our aims of a place where villagers could go with their children and enjoy sports and social events together. Once we had raised a good sum we were able to apply for grants which came in dribs and drabs at first but happily Wyvern Waste joined in and helped immensely.

We employed local builders and once again our volunteers came in and helped decorate and finish off before our opening day. Before we knew it we had a building and function room with sports facilities to be proud of.

The first year was exciting and once again our committee of volunteers stepped up and ran the pavilion and bar giving their time for free. After the first year we could afford to employ staff and so the efforts of our volunteers could be put towards growing our sports facilites.

We are a registered charity and run on a club certificate from our local council. We are still run by our Management Committee comprised of members and a group of Trustees who all still give their time for free both managing and maintaining the site.

Where did we start?
